Direct Passenger And Cargo Ship From Japan To Arrive In August

(P-A.) Auckland, June 28. The first direct passenger and cargo voyage made between Japan and New Zealand since early in the war will be made shortly by the Australian Oriental Line motor-ship Yunnan, of 3000 tons. The company’s Auckland agents have been advised that the Yunnan, after loading at Japanese ports and Hongkong, will reach Auckland via Australian ports, late in August. She will discharge and load at Auckland, Wellington and Lyttelton and return to Japan by way of Australia. The Yunnan has accommodation for 15 first-class and a number of steerage passengers. More voyages may follow in the new service. Trade between Japan and New Zealand was resumed some months ago, when a shipment of caustic soda was sent from Jaoan for transhipment in Australia to New Zealand.
