Young Men Arrested After Burglary At Ohakune Store

Three young men who arrived in Ohakune from Taihape on Thursday night, in the early hours of Friday morning broke into the Farmers ’Distributing Co. Ltd.’s Ohakune branch store. This was reported at 830 a.m.- on Friday to the police, who made immediate inquiries and found that an attempt to gain entry through a back window had been unsuccessful. The men had then smashed a side window under the catch and crawled through. They ransacked the place, taking two shotguns, two rifles, ammunition, a canteen of cutlery, two coats, razors, and razor blades, all to a total value of just over £175. The young men were arrested in Wanganui yesterday.—(O.C.)
