Rangitikei Hunt Club Has Large Following At Fern Flats

Bright sunshine and a light breeze prevailed for the Rangitikei hunt recently at “Ngamara,’’ Fern Flats. Adding to the interest of the day was the presence of several members from the Manawatu Hunt Club. Hounds threw off at the homestead and a hare was immediately put up by the gorse hedge. The pack went away at a steady pace and took the field down the hill across into Stevens’, back into McFarlane’s and then through Shand’s, where "puss” was lost A fresh draw was made on Gordon’s, where another hare was discovered, and although the scent was patchy, “puss’ took the field through to Brice's, to the old polo ground. Turning back across Brice’s again, the hare was lost in the crop. As the field was a long way from home, it was then decided to call it a day.
