Wanganui Licensing Committee; Business At Annual Meeting
Applications for renewal and transfers of publicans’ licences in the city and district came before the Wanganui Licensing Committee at its annual meeting in Wanganui yesterday. I All were granted with the exception of a renewal of the licence for the Rutland Hotel, which was adjourned for two months to enable some progress to be made with the question of rebuilding operations. Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., presided, other members of the committee being Messi’s H. H. West, S. R. McCallum, E. A. Millward, E. W. Merewether and A. Doig. The following applications were granted:— Transfer of Licence I. T. Manley to W. J. C. Thomas, Masonic Hotel. New Licences W. J. C. Thomas, Masonic Hotel; J. J. Bourke, Federal Hotel; A. L. Hobbs, Criterion Hotel. Renewals Granted J. J. Shivnan, Bridge Hotel, Wangaehu; A. B. C. Dunstone, Albion Hotel; J. Scott, Foster’s Hotel; H. R. Whitta, Railway Hotel, Fordell; E. H. Card, Station Hotel; E. W. E. Cordingley, Hotel Imperial; W. G. Johnstone, Red Lion Inn; R. J. Rothery, Aramoho Hotel; S. F. Best, Commercial Hotel; L. G. Butler, Provincial Hotel; A. K. Newton, Grand Hotel; S. H. Cave, Metropolitan Hotel. Wholesale Licences N.Z. Breweries Ltd.; F. J. H. Edmonds for a renewal of the Rutland Hotel licence will again be considered.
