Influenza Attacks Many Sydney Offices

Sydney, June 8. Nearly 15 per cent, of the employees in some Government offices are away from work with influenza, and some large city offices report that up to 25 per cent, of their workers are absent.

The Minister of Transport, Mr. O’Sullivan, says that some bus and tram services have had to o<? cut because insufficient men reported for duty. The incidence is believed to be higher among office than manual workers. This is explained by doctors to the fact that office workers are not permitted to use electric heaters in the daytime and cannot rely on physical activity to Keep them warm. The sickness is a gastric form of influenza, with severe symptoms, but is of comparatively short duration.
