SUCCESSFUL “DINKS” REUNION ENDS

FIRST WAR FRIENDSHIPS WERE RENEWED (P.A.) Auckland, June 7. Informal gatherings and visits to the Ellerslie races and various Kings Birthday sports fixtures brought to a close a three-day Dominion reunion and convention in Auckland of members of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade Association. Officials of the association said the gathering had amply fulfilled its one object of renewing acquaintances made in New Zealand, Egypt and France in the days of the First World War. About 1100 "Dinks,” from all parts of the country, attended the celebrations, which included a great reunion in the’Drill Hall on Saturday night, and a memorial service at the Cenotaph on Sunday morning. The men gathered at the Drill Hall at 10 o'clock this morning, where those members who had come from other parts of New Zealand were officially farewelled by. Lieut.-Colonel L. M. Blyth, president of the Auckland branch of the association. No official functions had been organised for the day, but motor cars were available to conduct the visiting members on sight-seeing tours of the city and suburbs, and other groups made their arrangements for attending the races and football matches.
