Overseas Minister To Fill Vacant Pulpit At St. James, Wanganui E

After being 10 years without the services of a regular minister, St. James’ Presbyterian Church, Wanganui East, is to have appointed one of the five ministers who arrived from Scotland and Ireland yesterday in the liner Rimutaka. The name of the new minister is not known yet but. the appointment will be announced later this week. The last minister at St. James was the Rev. G. S. King, who left the charge in 1937. Since then the pulpit has been occupied by a variety of ministers in temporary capacities. When the new minister arrives he will be inducted into the charge at a special service conducted by the Wanganui Presbytery. Ten ministers are being brought from the United Kingdom to fill vacant pulpits throuhout the Dominion due to the shortage of ministers in New Zealand Three of the ministers who arrived in Wellington yesterday were from Scotland and the other two were from Ireland.
