In Memoriam

Many Rugby Union followers in Wanganui were saddened by the death last Saturday of Mrs. Len Roach, whose husband is a staunch member of the Kaierau Club.

Mrs. Roach was a Rugby enthusiast first, last, and all time. Naturally, she barracked hard for Kaierau. She felt that a duty, just as many another feels it a duty to barrack for Pirates, or Marist, or any of the teams, but she appreciated good Rugby, and when the reps, were picked, like many another keen barracker, she barracked for blue and forgot the red. She applauded many a Pirate whom she had criticised when playing against the maroons. In fact she was something of an example to Wanganui folk.J'who, while keen to applaud good play, tend rather against their own in rep. fifteen than for them. If MrsRoach had had her way the barracking in Wanganui would be keener for the home team than it is, more in keeping with that great roar of voices "Taranaki.” that people hear in New Plymouth or Hawera.

Mrs. Roach will be missed by more than Kaierau and the sympathy of Rugby followers generally will be extended to her husband and relatives.
