Investigation Into Ballantyne’s Fire Resumes Today

Christchurch, May 24

After an adjournment since April 23, the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Ballantyne’s fire on November 18 of last year, will resume tomorrow. The inquiry is now entering the final stage and all indictions are that it will be a long one. No further adjournments, except for the King’s Birthday week-end, and one or two days or so before the final addresses are given, will 'he taken by the commission before it finally adjourns to consider and prepare its report. So far the commission has sat on, 39 days, or almost the equivalent of eight five-day weeks. It is expected that the final stages will occupy four or five weeks.
