Successful Year Reviewed By St. Peter’s Parishioners

A successful year was reviewed at the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Peter’s Church, Gonville. A comprehensive report was presented by the vicar, Rev. V. C. Venimore, this report reviewing the activities of many parish organisations and expressing thanks to all church officers. Mr. Venimore congratulated parishioners on the progress achieved, mentioning that the number of acts of communion in the year under review was the highest ever recorded in the parish. Appreciation was expressed of the work of Rev. A. J. Far* nell, hospitals chaplain, whose enthusiasm was already making itself felt. The churchwardens' report was presented by Mr. T. Rosser, who stated the church properties were maintained in excellent order. He made special reference to the achievements of the people’s warden, Mr. A. E. Lett. The report showed the need for more teachers to cope with the rapid increase in attendances at the Sunday School. Several speakers expressed appreciation of the long and faithful service of Mr. Lett, whose retirement was announced. The appointment of church officers resulted: —Vicar’s warden, Mr. T. Rosser; people’s warden, Mr. G. Le*ghton Jones; vestry, Messrs J. C. Batt, A. G. Horsley, Garland I. Jones, D. Kennedy. A. Sutcliffe, E. Tunnicliffe, C. Williams, Drs. W. A. Priest, Mrs. Uttley and Miss C. Batten; hon. auditor, Mr. E. Lind. Nominations for sidesmen resulted: Messrs R. S. R. Barrow, G. Cantwell, A. E. Lett. G. Larkin, H. McCabe, R. Thurlow, V. W. Venimore, M. Wadey. The following social committee was appointed:—Mr. H. McCabe, Mesdames T. Rosser, E. Utile}, V. W. Venimore. and Misses M. Hayward and A. Hood.
