Mrs. H. Firmin, Pariiiauhau, is an inmate of Belverdale Hospital.

Mrs. R. D. Rule, of Havelock North, and formerly of Wanganui, is visiting the city and is the guest of Mrs. J. Dunlop, Somme Parade. Miss Hilary Dale, of Foxton, Mrs. Hubert Witheford, of Kilbirnie, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Patrick, of Shannon, were the week-end guests of Mrs. P. P. Anderson, Carlton Avenue, for the Roche —Anderson wedding. Miss R. Taylor, of London, who has been visiting Wanganui, as the guest of Mrs. F. Carpenter, College Street, left at the week-end for Ohakune. Mrs. Maurice Castree, Miss Mary Fletcher, Miss Lorna Clendon, of Lower Hutt, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Burke, of Wellington, were week-end visitors to Wanganui for the Roche—Anderson wedding.

Miss F. V. Sim, Y.W.C.A. secretary, Wanganui, returned yesterday from Dunedin, where she attended the triennial convention of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand.

Members of the China Painting Club assembled in the club rooms last evening to farewell Miss Wyn Tizard, who is leaving Wanganui to take up a position in Timaru. A small token of appreciation was presented to Miss Tizard.

Visitors to Marton tomorrow for the National Party Ball will be Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McLeod, of Feilding. Mr. McLeod is chairman of the Manawatu National Party Electorate Committee.

The Girl Guides’ medal of merit, awarded some months ago by Imperial Headquarters, London, for her outstanding service during the last 18 years, was presented to Miss M. I. Skinner, Taranaki provincial guide secretary by the World Chief Guide, Lady Baden-Powell, during her visit to New Plymouth last week. Several other presentations were made.

Farewell to Mrs. W. D. Young. Mrs. T. Russell, Caius Avenue, was hostess last Thursday afternoon, when members of the committee of the Women’s Section of the R.S.A. met to wish Mrs. W. D. Young bon voyage, and a pleasant visit to Australia. The president (Mrs. M. G. Wadey), in presenting Mrs. Young with a beautiful leather travelling bag, expresed the good wishes of ail members. She thanked Mrs Young for all her interest and help and assured her that she will always receive a warm welcome when she returns here. Mrs. Young thanked the members very sincerely for their useful and handsome gift and their good wishes.
