Captain D- Hammersley Johnstone, M.V.0., 0.8. E., R.N., arrived in Wellington by the Ruahine from England to take command of H.M.S. Bellona. He is accompanied by his wife, who will live in Auckland. Captain Johnstone has served previously in Dominion waters, having been in H.M. Sloop Laburnum from 1930 to 1931.—(Press Association). Mr. G. J. Rodger, Commonwealth Director-General of Forests and Timber in Australia, arrived at Auckland by air, having accepted an invitation by the New Zealand State Forest Department an other timber interests to visit the Dominion. He will spend a month in the Dominion, attending the annual conference of the Federation of Sawmillers before inspecting re-afforestation schemes and other timber stands.
