PUBLIC OPINION

RUGBY SELECTORS Sir,—At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Rugby Union held recently, three selectors were elected, including one each from Rangitikei, Taihape, and Wanganui. The anomalous position he/: arisen where the Ran.gitikei delegates nominated the Rangitikei sole selector as their representative on the selection board and a local Wanganui club which has no connection with Rangitikei football nominated a different Rangitikei gentleman who was not even a candidate for the position of Rangitikei sole selector. This latter gentleman was elected as a result of a ballot in which delegates from all Wanganui clubs participated, whereas Rangitikei clubs were only represented by three delegates. Followers of Rugby in Rangitikei are bewildered by the state of affairs now existing as regards the position of selector, and an explanation from the president of the Wanganui Rugby Union would be welcomed. I would suggest in future that the Wanganui Rugby Union accept the nomination of the Rangitikei SubUnion, which is the only body with the necessary local knowledge tb appoint its own representative to such a position.—l am etc., “COUNTRY QUOTA.” Marton, March
