Gonville Croquet Club Loses Crawford Cup To Wanganui Team
The Gonville Croquet Club lost the Crawford Cup to the Wanganui Club in a challenge match played yesterday afternoon. Of the four games played, Gonville won only one. The greens were in good order. Results were as follow, Gonville players being mentioned first;—Mrs. Carline (11) lost to Mr. Peters (21), 17-26: Mrs. Beattie (21) lost to Mrs. Remington (21), 14-26; Mrs. Owles (31) lost to Mrs. Stevens, 17-26; Mrs. Kerr (41) beat Mrs. Delves (4), 26-10. The Gonville club won the trophy from Wanganui at the close of last season. This was the club’s first challenge for the current season.
