TARANAKI BOWLING TOURNAMENT

THREE WANGANUI FOURS HAVE QUALIFIED TILLEY, RAINL, FLETCHER

(SpeciaD New Plymouth, Jan. 29. At the conclusion of section play in the Taranaki Bowling Centre’s open fours tournament, 49 fours with six wins or more from the eight section games qualified for post-section play, which begins tomorrow. These survivors included Tilley (Wanganui), with six wins, Raine (Wanganui East) with six wins, and Fletcher (Wanganui East), with seven wins. Detailed results were:—

Section A: Hutton (Marton) lost to Billing (Waitara), 20-26, and lost'to De Roo (Fitzroy) 22-25 (two wins). • Section B: Richdale (Gonville) lost to Henderson (Waitara) 26-28, and beat Kay (New Plymouth Fire Brigade) 27-25, (five wins) Section C: Kirkwood (St. John’s) beat Longbottom (Inglewood) 31-25 and lost to Smee (Paritutu) 19-28 (four wins).

Section D: Tilley (Wanganui) beat Ewing (Stratford), 21-18 and beat Wright (Fitzroy) 34-21 (six wins). Section E: Thomas (Ohakune) beat Codd (Inglewood) 32-12 and beat Tabrielson (New Plymouth Fire Brigade) 31-14 (four wins). Section F: Harris (St. John’s) beat Williams (Stratford) 24-19 and lost to Lovell (Paritutu) 20-24 (two wins). Morgan (Waverley) lost to Peckston (Papatoetoe) 13-23 and 'ost to Smyth (Piopio) 19-26 (two wins). Section G: Raine (Wanganui East) lost to Fuller (Waitara) 18-19 and beat Bluett (Eltham) 30-20 (six wins).

Section H: Walker (Wanganui) beat Maetzig (Inglewood) 27-20 and lost to Wagstaff (Fitzroy) 14-35 (one win). i Section I: Webby (Wanganui East) beat Spurdie (Inglewood) 27-16 and beat Hamilton (New Plymouth Fire Brigade) 30-24 (four wins). Section J: Fletcher (Wanganui East) beat Edwards (Midhurst) 42-10 and beat Moki (Paritutu) 28-15 (seven wins). Section K: Armstrong (Gonville) lost to Greiner (New Plymouth) 1425 and lost to Bradley (Ponsonby) 18-22 (two wins). Section L: Steel (Wanganui) lost to Mackay (New Plymouth) 25-30 and beat Gordon (Ponsonby) 24-13 (five wins). Section M: Harris (Wanganui lost to Stirling (Ellerslie) 15-28 and beat Lewis (Ellerslie) 30-17 (five wins). Section N: Tlzard (fit. Johns) beat Marsden (Pukekohe) 22-19 and lost to Toy (Ellerslie) 18-24 (three wins).
