CARPENTERS “GO SLOW” TACTICS

NOT PUT INTO GENERAL EFFECT AS YET (P.A.) Auckland, Jan. 28. Go slow tactics decided upon at a meeting of 2000 members of the Auckland branch of the Carpenters' Union on Tuesday were not put into general effect today. On some jobs the decision was observed, but on others the worker’s told the employers that they had no intention of going slow. However, the effectiveness of the decision will be more accurately gauged on Friday. Deputations from the workers are meeting the employers on various jobs to ask for a minimum rate of 3s Bid an hour, and for the observance of the fares and travelling time clauses of the award.
