DEFEAT OF KINDERGARTEN
An inquirer wants to know what horse defeated Kindergarten at Hastings about five years ago. Kindergarten won five of the six races which he contested in the 1942-43 season, but was defeated at his first start in the Flying Handicap (six furlongs) at the Hawke’s Bay spring meeting on October 3. The piticings were:— 5/5 Black Majesty 8.2 (D. W. Redstone) 1; 1/1 Kindergarten 10.9 (A. E. Ellis) 2; 7/7 Silver Mist 7.55 (T. Winiata) 3. Rakanui (fourth), Hippodrome, Ivar and Palora also started. Black Majesty, trained by G. W. B. Green, won by two and a-half lengths, with a head between second and third, and the time was 1.12 2-5.
