PROBATIONARY TEACHERS APPOINTED FOR YEAR
On the recommendation of the senior inspector (Mr. H. G. Johnston) and the secretary (Mr. G. N. Boulton) the Wanganui Education Board yesterday appointed probationary assistants for the current academic year. Five extra probationary assistants included two ex-servicemen who had been granted leave to take up rehabilitation bursaries and a trainee who has only to serve one term to complete her probationary period. Appointees in the Wanganui district were: —Marton Junction, John H. Childs; Tawhero, Arthur R. Hanna; St. John’s Hill, Geraldine E. Smith; Bulls, Phyllis Lundy; Castlecliff, Zita J. Rose and Kahu Durie (extra); Hunterville, Dorothy J. Missen; Patea, Ada M. Hone; Waverley District High School, Martha E. White; Queen's Park, Audrey T. Bates; Ohakune District High School, Francis J. McCullough and Shirley Mcllraith; Wanganui Intermediate. Patricia M. Duggan (homecraft); Raetihi, Lola P. Smith; Aramoho, Doris K. Caseley; Keith Street, Mavis E. Edwards; Marton District High School, Eric C. Diehl and Koa E. G. Jones; Gonville, Henry N. Naylor, David J. Lundy, Shirley Hestall (extra); Wanganui East, Norine E. Luxford and Kathleen Smallholme.
