SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mrs Harold Jones, St. John’s Hill, has returned after visiting Wellington. Miss J. Ellis, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss W. Dunkley, Anzac Parade. Mrs W. Peat, “Hillside,” has returned to Wanganui after visiting Martin borough. Mrs H. R. Beauchamp and Miss Jill Beauchamp, Glasgow Street, left yesterday for a short visit to Wellington. Mrs J. G. Robinson, Carlton Terrace, is visiting Wellington, where she ik the guest of Miss Butts. Mrs E. B. Cooke, Oakland Terrace, St. John’s Hill, has returned from a holiday spent in Auckland and Cambridge. Mrs C. M. Orton, Mrs W. McA. Duncan, Mrs P. A. O'Neill, Mrs G. M. Currie and Mrs S. Barton have returned from Wellington, where they attended the races at Trentham. Mrs W. J. Rogers, Harper Street, Gonville, has returned from Wellington, where she visited her daughters, Mrs P. W. Blakeley, of Northland, and Mrs R. Richardson, Lower Hutt. Mrs C. J. McLean, president of the Gonville Croquet Club, and 11 members visited Marton yesterday at the invitation of the Marton Croquet Club. Two Wanganui girls who have passer! their final nursing examination are Miss Lynn O'Neill, daughter of Mr and Mrs P. A. O’Neill, Ingestre Street, and Miss Patricia Brooking, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Brooking, Koromiko Road. They trained at the Palmerston North Hospital. Miss O'Neill also gained honours in nursing. Since his marriage to Princess Elizabeth, leading city jewellery shops have had hundreds of requests for plain gold wedding rings for men. Most of them were made for brides-to-be who wanted to adopt the European custom of exchanging rings at the wedding ceremony. Several men. interviewed on the su’bject said they did not mind wearing wedding rings “to please their wives.” A number of jewellers were of the opinion that men should wear rings to convey that they are married. Others thought it was "sissy" for men to wear wedding rings.
