N.Z. Greens Fast, Standard Of Play Here High
The greens in New Zealand were much faster than Canadian greens, said Mr. W. M. Cullen, secretarytreasurer of the touring British Columbia Bowling team, which arrived in Wanganui yesterday. The team, which has played matches against Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch and in Dunedin, arrived direct from Dunedin in continuation of its tour of the Dominion. The tour is a goodwill one. In 1930 a touring party had visited New Zealand apd some members of it had kept up a correspondence which had culminated in the present visit. HIGH STANDARD OF PLAY IN N.Z. The visitors said the standard of play in New Zealand was high and were amazed at the huge entries received for the Dominion championships, at Dunedin. They contend that they must be near a world record, as a total 1904 entries had been received. The organisation of the Dunedin fixture, they said, was excellent, but the weather could have been kinder than it had been. Except for one member of the party, they are making their first visit to New Zealand and they think it a grand country. The name of New Zealand stood high in both British Columbia and Canada and the Dominion airmen were rated as first class ambassadors.
