DEATH OF WELL KNOWN SCOTTISH PIPER
(P.A.) Jan. 27. The death occurred last night of Mr. Murdoe Mackenzie, aged 80 years, who was considered one of the outstanding pipers during the past 50 years. He held two world championships and won many New Zealand championships. He had been a competitor in piping for 64 years in various parts of the world, securing a place at the age of 13 in a contest in Scotland against the best pipers in that country. He was a veteran of the Boer War.
