R. Thomas And D. Ahern Score Well For T.O.B.

A second wicket pstitnership worth 109 runs, in which T. 0.8. captain, Thomas, and their 'keeper, D. Ahern’ figured, put the side on the road to a tidy score when they took first use of the wicket against United Old Boys. Ahern found the boundary 10 times in the course of his knock, and the later batsmen all tried to score rapidly. Thomas weathered the morning spell when the pitch was not up to much, and Davidson was getting an occasional ball up head high on it. He proceeded to bat patiently, well into the afternoon, regularly stepping out for a sizzling off-drive for four. Just after the team total had reached the 200 mark, Thomas ran himself out with his own score at 92. He had hit 11 fours and ’two 3's, and was the sixth man dismissed. Only Felts made any impression as a bowler, his opening overs being very hard to score off. Top-scorer for United was Davidson with a 51 which included seven 4’s and a six. Condliffe and Pidwell hurried the score along, and R. Webby played an adventdrous left-hander's knock for 36.
