Half-Centuries Scored By Adams And Nirnmo In Wanganui-Marist Match

One of the most delightful and effortless gems of batsmanship ot the present season was played by G. Adams for Wanganui in their game with the competition leaders. Unbeaten with 52 runs, he scored quickly, and chiefly trom lull-blooded drives. His total included live lours and a three, and watching him reach his 50 with a huge sixer to long-on it was difficult to understand <hy Adams is sc frequently relegated to junior status. Seven fours and a six were included in S. Nlmmo's 58, which heralded a welcome return to batting torn, after a rather lean period. Cave and Cameron batted weil for Wanganui, and Williamson enjoyed success with the ball later in the day uy mixing his deliveries cleverly. After Wanganui had batted rairly evenly, if luCKiiy, for 203 runs, treats and Farrell sent Mansi away to a sound start with 46 runs for the lirst wicket. Three wickets tell cheaply, and then Nimmo, Beard, and Ciafar collared the bowling to put Marist m a fair position to force a win. Indifferent hitting by the remainder, however, had Marist in not too comtortable position at six o'clock. Tnere were two unfortunate accidents in the game. Wanganui’s wicket Keeper, j. Giover, was caught unawares by a return from the outfield ana struck full on the head by the ball, and D. Beard (Marist) was hit while batting. Glover was able to re sume alter a spell.
