“JUST A FANTASTIC STORY”
SYDNEY CABLE REGARDING PACIFIC CbMINFORM (P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 24. “The statement is just another fantastic story, and is a complete fabrication without any truth in it whatever,’ said the Wellington district secretary of the New Zealand Communist Party (Mr. A. B. Skilton), refcrTing to a Sydney cable reporting the possible formation of a Pan-Pacific secretariat of wharf and shipping workers and a Sydney Cominform. Mr. Skilton alleged that certain individuals and the Australian security police were feeding false information to use as ammunition to attack and smear the Labour movement. He added that the organisation of a Pa-
cific Cominform had never been considered by the New Zealand Communist Party. "On the other hand, there is nothing sinister or harmful in the idea of an organisation to exchange information as between Communist parties in adjacent countries, or between other working class organisations such as tradp unions,” he said.
