<P-A.) Auckland, Jan 25 • Mr. R. E. Brain was the onlv son 1 of Mr and Mrs. E St. Clair Brain, of Devonport. • In November, 1939, Mr. Brain volunteered for service with the R.N.Z.A.F. and began his training early in 1940. He was appointed to a commission shortly before he left New Zealand early in 1941. and was promoted to flight lieutenant in 1943. He served with the Royal Air Force in Britain until 1942. when he was transferred to the Middle East.
