WANGANUI ESCAPEE RECAPTURED
ARRESTED AT NEW PLYMOUTH Successfully eluding police patrols at vital points on roads and bridges leading out of Wanganui, Leslie John Parnell aged 29 years, who escaped from the Wanganui Gaol on Friday afternoon made his way to New Plymouth where he was arrested at 3 a.m.~yesterday on the New Plymouth railway station. Parnell, who is a motor driver by trade and comes from Hamilton, was arrested by Constable B. W. Orlowski, of the New Plymouth police. Parnell made no trouble when arrested. He will appear in the Magistrate’s Court at New Plymouth this morning and will be remanded to Wanganui, He is to appear on Wednesday on a charge of breaking and entering and theft on which he was remanded by Justice of the Peace last week to enable the detective to make further enquiries.
