N.Z. Doctor Dies At Kongchuen Few Days After Arrival

Wellington, Jan. 16 The third young New Zealand doctor to die in tragic circumstances alter very briet service at the Kongchuen Hospital in South China, Dr. John Kirk Brown, of Gore, succumbed last Tuesday to severe encephalitis states a cable received yesterday by C.0.R.5.0. Dr. Brown was a senior house surgeon at the Gisborne Hospital. He volunteered last year for relief service in China and was allotted by C.0.R.5.0. to Kongchuen Hospital, which was founded by the New Zealand Presbyterian Cnurch and has always been largely staffed by New Zealanders. He was 27 years old and had arrived at the hospital direct from New Zealand only a few days earlier.
