Recd. 5 p.m. London, Jan. 6 Hans Bockler, chairman of the Trades Union Federation in the British zone, told a meeting of food officials from the Anglo-American zone that the British authorities should collect food by force if necessary from the German countryside, otherwise mobs would soon storm the bakeries and loot farms where, he said, food was hidden, says Reuter’s Dusseldorf correspondent. Mr. G. Hughes, head of the food and agriculture section of the British Control Commission said there was plenty of meat in the bizonal areas to fulfil the meat ration if the Germans made collections properly. No special Anglo-American help could be expected during the next critical period.
