ANNIVERSARY DAY TOURNAMENT. Intending entrants for the Anniversary Day tennis tournament being held by the Marton Lawn Tennis I Club are reminded that entries close on Monday, 19th. inst. with the secretary, Miss N. Hutton. Morning and afternoon tea and balls will be provided and a cordial invitation is extended to all members and visiting players to take part. Last season a most successful tornament was held, more than 80 players participating and a similar success is hoped for this year. MOTOR-CYCLE RACE MEETING ON MARTON RACECOURSE EARLY IN MARCH A full-scale motor-cycle race meeting will be held by the Rangitikei Motor Club on the Marton racecourse on Saturday, March 6, and it is hoped to attract prominnt cyclists from many parts of the North Island. Races will start in the morning and continue through the afternoon, being run on the mile grass track. The Rangitikei Motor Club, revived last year after a period or recess, held successful meetings in the past, the last occasion on which the Marton racecourse was used being about 1932. The course is considered by cyclists to be ideal for the purpose, being wide and slightly banked with reasonably easy corners. The one-mile motor-cycle lap record for the course is believed to be in the vicinity of 84 miles an hour. MARTON FIRE BRIGADE QUEEN CARNIVAL. A public meeting has been convened for the purpose of forming a Junction Committee to sponsor a Queen for the Marton Fire Brigade Queen Carnival, and will be held in the Railway Social Hall on Tuesday evening at 8 pun. 20th. inst. SERVICES AT ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The services at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church tomorrow will be taken in the morning by Canon H. Watson and th* evening service by Mr. Ivor Bishop. The ’service at Tutaenui will be at 2.30 p.m.
