CHRISTMAS DINNER 7000 FEET UP

MENUS ON AIR LINERS Auckland, Dec. 29 Full Christmas dinners were served to passengers and crews of two overseas aircraft while the planes were flying toward Auckland on Thursday. The 24 passengers on the R.M.A. Tasman were offered a special menu which included roast turkey, spring lamb, baked ham and salads, with Christmas pudding and brandy sauce, peach melba and mince pies for dessert. Assorted nuts, Christmas crackers and fruit were also available and sherry was served with the meal. The Tasman landed at Mechanics' Bay at 3.30 p.m. On the Pan-American clipper, Racer, which landed at Whenuapai yesterday afternoon from Nandi, Fiji, the 31 passengers ate a traditional American Christmas dinner while the plane was cruising at 7500 feet. Egg-nog was served to passengers before the meal by the flight stewardess, and this was followed by turkey and cranberry sauce, with fruit and cold desserts and nuts. Passengers on both planes were appreciative of the special menus arranged for their Christmas Day flights, and said they would remember the festive dinners served over the Tasman and the Pacific for many years.
