New Award Will Mean A Larger Ambulance Staff

Auckland, Dec. 24 To enable the 40-hour week to bd worked in accordance with the pro-’ visions of the new award, the St. John Ambulance Association staff of drivers will be increased by 10 as from Thursday. The secretary-manager, Mr. S. E. Langstone, said this would bring the roll of regular drivers to 33. Four station officers instead of one would be on strength as from January, and an additional sum of between £4OOO and £5OOO would be paid out in salaries by the association as a result of the increase in staff, Mr.( Langstone continued. This included overtime on Sundays, but did not take into account ordinary overtime.
