R. G. Wade Is Leading Contestant For N.Z. Chess Championship
(P.A.) Dunedin, Dec. 28 With three points to his credit, R. G. Wade, former New Maland champion and holder of the South-western States title, which he won during his recent visit to America, is leading the other contestants in the Dominion championship chess tournartient which is being played in Dunedin. The defending title-holder, T. Lepviikman (Wellington), could equal Wade’s score by winning unfinished games. At present Wade is one point ahead of his nearest opponents. Mrs. F. E. Short (Auckland) and N. S. Henderson (Wellington) are the leading players in the major open event, having defeated strong opponents. Each has a score of three points.
