GREECE TO OUTLAW COMMUNIST PARTY
DEATH PENALTY MAY BE INVOKED IN CASES (N.Z. P.A. —Reuter—Copyright.) Recd. 10.10 p.m. Athens, Dec. 27. The Greek, Government is expected soon to outlaw the Greek Communist Party under a modified version of a law originally passed in 1929. The party and associated groups will be automatically dissolved. Civil servants belonging to the party or having Communist sympathies will be dismissed. Leaders of Socialist parties which the Government considers play "an ambiguous role” will be asked to dissociate themselves formally and publicly from Communism. The law will provide the death penalty in some cases. Greece has sent Yugoslavia a Note protesting that the use of Belgrade radio for Marko's broadcasts is contrary to international convention.
