TRELOAR INJURES THIGH; HAYES FAILS IN N.S.W. ATHLETICS

Recd. 6.30 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 27 After winning a heat of the 100 yards at the New South Wales athletic championships in 9.75ec., John Treloar withdrew with a pulled thigh muscle and will not run for three Peter Heath won the 220 yards title from Treloar by IB yards in 21.4 sec. and then won the 100 yards title in 9.Bsec. The sensational army sprinter, Clarrie Hayes, did not develop form, finishing third in the 100 yards and fourth in the 220 yards. Maurice Curotta, aged 18, clocked 48sec. in the 440 yards event, breaking the native Australian record which had stood for 17 years.
