Health Regulations Affect Motor Camps In Wanganui

Health regulations which ban children under the age of 16 years atI tending public gatherings or being present at motor camps have had a serious affect on holiday resorts in Wanganui. J So far, many of the parties using | the Castlecliff motor-camp, have been adult families or groups whose object has been not so much the | spending of a holiday at various .motor camps but rather a trip from one point to another, with short 'stop-overs at the ' suitable camps. I Most of the travellers have come from a distance, mostly from the 'north; others however, have undertaken only relatively short trips, the petrol supply position obviously having had an effect on holiday plans. With the tips of the waves in a heavy surf being whipped off by a strong northerly, Castlecliff beach yesterday was not at its best. Sand was lifting freely from the beach and very f*w folk went swimming. , PARTIES AT ARAMOHO. , While there has not been the same lelative diminution in the numbers staying at the Aramoho motor-camp, I the effect of the ban on children being in motor-camps has also been shown there. Normally, over the Christmas-New Year period there are sufficient children at the camp to conduct a small sports meeting on the New Year’s Day for the entertainment of the children particularly, and a collection among the persons at the camp has generally realised a sum of about £9 or £lO. This year, owing to the ban,' no such gathering will be held. Most of the travellers at the Aramoho camp are moving northward, many having come from Wellington and districts in that, vicinity. From the beginning of the week there has been an average of about hall a dozen caravans and from 15 lo 20 tent parties at the camp.
