Mr. Ernest Marsden has been appointed a member of the Carter Observatory Board. Mr. W. E. Robbie was elected chairman at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Woolbrokers’ Association. Wing-Commanders R. J. Cohen, A.F.C., and C. C. Hunter, 0.8. E., have been promoted to Group Captain, according to a Gazette notice. Mr. . K. Matthews, of Wellington has been appointed to replace Mr. A. O. Langtry on the Pharmacy Plan Industrial Committee. Mr. 11. Paul, a former member ot the Wanganui Hospital Board’s staff, who died recently, was referred to at the monthly meeting yesterday when a motion of condolence with the relatives was carried. Mr. R. A. Burnet, who died recently, was referred to by the chairman of the Wanganui Hospital Board. D. D. Simpson, at the monthly meeting yesterday. A motion of condolence with the relatives was carried. Group-Capiains M. W. Buckley. C. J. L. Findlay. C. 8., M.C., and A. S. Wallingford have been promoted to the rank of Air Commodore, according to a Gazette notice issued last night. Mr. G. M. Gwynr.e, deputy-chief postmaster, Napier, has been promoted to the position of chief postmaster, Masterton. His successor will be Mr. H. R. Pool, of the Palmerston North staff. Mr J.- C. Taylor, for a number oi years senior supervise.- of the clerical branch of the Hastings Post Office, has been transferred to Palmerston North as senior supervisor of the clerical branch at the Palmerston North Post Office. Mr. S. J. Harris, Government nominee on the Wanganui Fire Board, who died recently, was referred to by the chairman. Mr. G. P. Hawkins, at the quarterly meeting yesterday. "During the tnrit years he was on the boara he served i| faithfully and well.” said the chairman. A motion of condolence with the xelat.ves was carried. Mr. George Knight. who died recently, was referred to at the monthly meeting yesterday of the Wanganui Hospital Board, when a motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. The chairman, Mr. D. D. Simpson (Hunterville) expressed appreciation of Mr. Knight’s work in making footwear for crippled children, particularly during the war years when the board Whs faced with staff difficulties.
