14 OF 26 N.Z. RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM IN ENGLAND ARE INJURED
Reed. 7.20 p.m. London, Oct. 14 Due to Injuries, caused chiefly by the hard grounds, the New Zealand Rugby League team has only 12 men lit of the 26. All four half-backs are on the injured list, and it is doubtful whether Barchard will play against Leigh on Wednesday. If he cannot, then Mountford, a forward, will play as half.
The manager (Mr. Redwood) stated that no message will be sent to New Zealand for reinforcements: nor will New Zealanders playing with clubs be asked to help the touring team. If further injuries occur on Wednesday or during the match with Wales on Saturday, however, the team will be in a difficult position, and it is possible New Zealanders might be borrowed from English clubs.
