OBITUARY

MR. HARRY THOMPSON. (0.C.) Raetihi, Ocl. 13. Mr. Harry Thompson, who died suddenly in Raetihi on Sunday afternoon, was born in England 38 years ago nnd came to Raetihi in ibc early part of World Aar 1. Fof some years lie was on the outside staff of the Raetihi Town Boaid, num which he retired to go into business vXth Mr. W. Watson. With the retirement to Auckland of the late Mr. John Punch in 1924, Mr. Thompson took over the Theatre Royal pictures and in subsequent years he acquired the picture hall at Ohakune town and this was followed by the erection by Mr. Thompson of the Plaza Theatre at Ohakune Junction. Mr. Thompson was a man ot quiet, iinaisuming anu generous nature and during his 23 years in the picture business he gave picture benefits annually to every worthy cause. With flic institution of Sunday pictures in Raetihi sonic 12 years ago, he devoted ali protits to charity, ana from this source the Plunket Society, Health Camps and ether organisations were benefactors to flic- ■•ment of many hundreds oi pounds. The remains cf Mr Thompson were interred at the Ohakune cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the graveside .service being c.: ducted i.y tile Rev. W. Bell-Booth, of the Chui ch of England.
