Scottish Woman In Auckland to Celebrate Her 100th. Birthday

(P.A.) s Auckland, Oct. 2. A well-known figure in the Onel.tnga and One Tree Hill districts, Mrs. Margaret Peden, celebrates her 100th birthday tomorrow. She retains all her faculties, and her favourite pastime is a daily walk, which she takes around the streets close to her none.

Keenly interested in music, she is an accomplished smgei ana pianist, and still has a pleasing voice, while she enjoys listening to religious and musical sessions on the radio. Mrs. Peden was born at Bonny Rigg, Scotland, on October 3 1847. •She married at the age of 29 Mr. John B. Peden, who died in 1893. Forty years later, in 1933, her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Tait, well known in musical circles in the Dominion, wheie Mr Tait is conductor of Ihe Madrigal Choir, visited her and persuaded her to come to New Zealand from Bonny Rigg and make her home with them. Mrs. Peden has one son. Mr John Pedin, of Edinburgh, Scotland, and one daughter. Mrs. John Tait. There are two grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
