M.P.’s at the House of Commons recently probably saw a very unusual sight in the form of a wedding ceremony taking place in the Crypt. For it was there that Mr. Francis Noel-Baker, M.P., 27-year-old son of Mr. Philip Noel-Baker, Secretary of State for Air, was married on August 1 to Miss Ann Lavinia Saunders, daughter of Mr. Hilary St. George Saunders, librarian of the House of Commons, and author of many of the official best-sellers of the war. Nineteen-year-old Miss Saunders, an art student, designed her own wedding dress, in white silk, cut on medieval lines, with a train. After the reception. held in the Speaker’s house, the couple crossed the Commons Terraces to an awaiting launch to set oft on their honeymoon. At a point down-river they boarded a larger vessel bound for Norway. Picture shows: With the little bridal attendants anxious to have a last-minute peep at the happy couple, the bride is helped into the awaiting launch while the bridegroom (centre, wearing light suit) is bid farewell from the steps of the Commons Terrace, at the start of this unique honeymoon.
