ALLEGED MURDER OF JEWISH YOUTH Jerusalem. Oct. 1. Major Roy Alexander Farran, former assistant-superintendent of Palestine police, pleaded not guilty at a military court to a charge of murdering Alexander Rubowitz. a Jew, aged 16, on the night of May 8. Rubowitz was last reported seen being driven away in a car containing three other men in Jerusalem on the night of May 6. The court was heavily guarded and police checked the credentials of all visitors. Prosecuting counsel (Mr. Maxwell Turner) said that when Robowitz was last seen he was being chased by a man and hustled into a car. During the chase the man dropped a hat and in the hat’s sweatband the letters •‘FAR AN” were written. A police superintendent who had arranged three identification parades testified that none of the participants recognised Farran as Ruoowitz’s assailant. He added that neither were 10 members of Farran’s patrol recognised as being members of the patrol which previous witnesses had stated had arrested Rubowitz on the night of May 6.
