Mr. Justice Gresson, newly appointed to the Supreme Court Bench, was sworn in by th e Chief Justice (Sir Humphrey O’Leary) yesterday morning. It. is expected that Mr. Justice Gresson's first appearance on the Bench will be on Monday.

Cr. W. Doole (Taihape), Erewhon Riding representative on the Rangitikei County Council for many years, has announced, through Cr. V. Smith, that because of ill health he will not be seeking re-election on any local body in the meantime, ne is at present a patient in the Ta'mape Hospital and is making fair progress. Mr. Doole is the county’s representative on the No. 8 District Highways Council and is also a member of the Moawhango Rabbit Board.

Mr Arthur Way (Marton) who died recently, was referred to at the monthly meeting of the Rangitikei County Council yesterday, when a motion of condolence with the relatives was carried. The resolution stated that for many years Mr. Way was closely associated with the council and gave valuable and faithful services, | ticularly to the lower end of the county by way of organising appeals for many worthy purposes. Speakers were the chairman, Cr. h. W. Dalrymple, and Cr. A. S. Coleman. Mr. Heskell Anderson, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, will visit Wanganui for the annual convention of the New Zealand Junior Chambers of Commerce, which opens here today. Other visitors will include Mr. Osborn S. Watson, Commercial Attache at the American Legation (Wellington) and Mr. M. R. M. Dale, , Assistant Commercial Secretary at the Canadian Government Trade Commissioner’s Office (Wellington).
