BASKETBALL DANCE (0.C.) Turakina, Oct. 1. The local basketball team, winner of the B grade shield finished its season by staging a very successful chance in the town hall on Saturday night. Streamers and balloons intermingled with greenery transformed the hall into a scene of gay activity and a most enjoyable night was spent. Patricia Cavanagh on behalf of the team made a presentation of a dainty cup and saucer to Miss Bristol, who has acted as coach during the season. Members of the committee were presented with shoulder sprays. WANGAEHU GOLF NOTES. The monthly L.G.U. Medal round was held on Saturday, there being some reductions in handicaps and the majority of players found little difficulty in playing from the ground after a long period of placing. Best cards: Mrs. O. B. Hawken, 96-33-63; Mrs. Bradley, 94-23-71; Mrs. Frederick, 107-36-71; Miss A. Castles, 88-15-72. Inter-Club Match. Lady members of HaU'kestone club paid a visit to the Wangaehu links on Tuesday and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. On their own links the local players won the majority of the games. The week-end match will be a stableford, the draw being:—Mrs. Hawken and Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Stockdale and Miss A.
