Following is “Crossbar’s” choice of the best players in the Wanganui Rugby season just ending:— Backs D. McCarthy (Taihape), fullback, centre, or five-eighths, but preferably full-back. M. Hunter (Wanganui and Old Boys), Ist five-eighths. L. Miller (Wanganui and Old Boys), centre three-quarter. Forwards D. McGregor (Wanganui and Old Boys), lock. B. Pedley (Pirates), lock. Fopowing are the most promising players:— Back E. Henderson (Waverley), halfback. Forwards D. Grant (Technical Old Boys), lock. E. Oulsnan (Taihape), side row forward. J. Heagney (Marist), side row forward. R. Dallison (Waverley) hooker. R. Ward (Kaierau), lock. Another back who showed great promise in one game on the Park was J. Price (.Kaierau) half-back, but one game was not enough to judge him on for a place in what might be termed the season’s “capping."
