Balmain Rugby League Team Beaten By Otahuhu at Auckland

(P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 1. Beaten by the better team on the day, Balmain, the visiting Sydney side, went down before Otahuhu this afternoon at Carlaw Park by 19 points to 8 in the first of its four Rugby Legu e matches to be played in Auckland. Heavy rain had made the ground a little holding, but did not hamper back movements. Although not fielding their best thirteen, the visitors did not appear as good a side as that which visited Auckland last season. The Otahuhu forwards paved the way to victory and frequently bustled the opposition into errors. For Otahuhu tries were scored by N. Sanderson, R. Speedy and S. Harris. E. Pattillo converted one try and Tt. Martin two. Pattillo and Martin also kicked penalty goals. J. Clare and A. Patton scored tries for Balmain and J. Jorgenson kicked a penalty goal.
