AT EEAST ONE HAS BEEN MADE One offer from private enterprise to take over portion of the Wanganui passenger transport system ha s been made. It applies to the Upper Aramoho and Wanganui East routes, with a suggestion that the service be developed to cover the whole ®f the city.

The council, on August 12, decided to seek permission from the Local Government Loans Board to raise a loan of £22,000 to finance a new bus service to Aramoho and Wanganui East. At the same time it gave private enterprise a chance to submit proposals to run the service. That offer expired on Tuesday night. The offer which has been made to the council to take over portion of the service under private management will be considered at a special meeting to be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, and Mr. S. A. Crichton, who has made the offer, is to attend in person.
