Members of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church Choir have been working hard for some months in preparation for the sale of work to take place in St. Paul’s Hall on Saturday afternoon. Their handiwork includes supper and breakfast cloths, showers, a large variety of aprons, woodwork and novelties. There will be a good assortment of home-made sweets, cakes and produce, also a "white Elephant" stall in charge of the children of Margaret Watt Home. Eighty-Eighth Birthday. A very pleasant day was spent by Mrs. Agnes Campbell on Tuesday, when relatives assembled at her home, Marybank, the occasion being her 88th. birthday. She received telegrams of greeting and good wishes and numerous gifts of beautiful flowers. As well as sons and daughters there were grandchildren and great-grand-children present at the celebration. A two-tiered birthday cake had pride of place on the table. A happy day concluded with a musical evening. Crystal, China and Clocks. The lure of lovely china draws many a woman to the fine collection at Corby’s Chinaware Shop, next General Post Office in Ridgway Street. I noticed some new and very charmingly designed cup, saucer and plate sets—such a variety to choose from! Then there are 21-piece teasets, equally attractive in design and colouring. And you'll simply be enchanted with the dinner sets. These are 31-piece sets and jjou can have tea sets to match some of the patterns. A collection of artistic pottery will attract you, as will also the glassware —you are sure to like the various colourings. Then there are jug sets and teapots in very nice shapes and colourings, Carlton ware and the pretty Falcon ware. And if you want to give someone a very special wedding gift you will be wise to take a peep at the small chimney clocks. Of British make and first class mechanism, the softly sounding chimes are like those of the high hall clocks. Fruit sets and water sets in crystal would also make welcome gifts for the bride-to-be.*
