Tramways Strikers Arrested in Shanghai
Heed. 7.20 p.m. Shanghai, Sept, 29 Fifty striking employees of the French Tramway Company were arrested by the Shanghai Woosung Garrison today. The command gave no reason for the arrests, but labour sources said the men were being held "on suspicion of being connected with subversive activities." A strike began two days ago over a wage dispute. The British Tramway Company workers jollied the French strikers and Shanghai now faces a complete stoppage of its tramway services.
