Friendship Treaty Signed by Spain And Philippines

Manilla, Sept. 28 The Philippines Foreign Secretary, Elpididio Quirino, and the Spanish Minister to the Philippines, Senor Teodomiro de Aguilar, have declared in a joint press conference today that the new Spanish-Philippines treaty of friendship signed yesterday did not violate the United Nations anti-Span-ish resolution. They called the conference after some Manilla newspapers suggested that the treaty conflicted with the United Nations resolution which had resulted in member nations recalling their ambassadors and Ministers from Madrid. Quirino asserted that the resolution did not prohibit any member from having friendly relations with Spain, but should the United Nations decide to cut off entirely all relations with Spain, it would then be time for the Philippines to discontinue the treaty with her former mother country.
