BRITISH GOODS HAVE READY MARKET IN AUSTRALIA

(P.A.) Auckland. May 10. En route to Wellington to join the Port Iluon, which leaves for England on May 17, the British Trade Commissioner in Australia, (Mr. A. W. Burton) accompanied by Mrs. Burton, arrived at Auckland by flying boat. Mr. Burton said it would be his first visit to the United Kingdom for nine years when he came out to lake up lite position. Slating that his work entailed marketing of British products in Australia, Mr. Burton said he had had no difficulty in finding buyers for anything that was exported from Britain. The target for 1947 was 40 per cent, in volume in excess of the amount of British exports sent to Australia in 1938. Last year the amount of Brit; ish exports to the Commonwealth was equal in volume to 1938 figures. The value of products last year however was about double the prewar price. The manufactures in the United Kingdam were made to export two I out of every three articles produced. I Motor cars and machinery' were the principal goods eceivcd.
